Carved from luminous Colorado Yule Marble, Aspiration embodies upward motion, ambition, and quiet determination. Its sweeping, delta-like wings and singular rising point create a sense of lift and forward momentum—ad astra, to the stars.
Designed to be viewed from every angle, the sculpture captures and transforms light throughout the day. In direct sun or spotlight, the marble reveals subtle translucence, with warm ribbons and golden stratifications glowing within its bright white form. In lower light, the piece becomes more solid and restrained, projecting strength, resolve, and a quieter intensity.
Shaped from a striking, pyramid-like block drawn from the Liberty Collection slab, Aspiration reflects a careful balance of removal and restraint. Nearly 100 pounds of marble were carved away to achieve a lightweight, fully dimensional form that remains easily movable—an essential characteristic of Martin Cooney’s Collection Series sculptures.
