Cat Walk began as a vision of flowing water—but like many of Martin Cooney’s works, the marble had other plans. When a flaw in the block forced a change in direction, a new shape emerged—poised, powerful, and unmistakably human. The figure that took shape recalled a model mid-stride, confident and luminous beneath runway lights.
What followed was a sculptural shift from the natural to the figurative. Carved from Colorado Yule Marble, the piece embraces verticality and grace, commanding attention with its elongated form and elegant posture. It’s a study in adaptability, where a misstep in the stone gave way to a vision of presence and personality.
