Description
In The Crux, three determined climbers scale a rugged limestone arch, each frozen in a moment of effort and balance. Carved directly into the stone, their stylized forms emphasize the shared struggle and individual challenge of the ascent. At the base, hidden in the shadows of carved grottos, animal figurines—like a lounging walrus and watchful black dog—add a sense of quiet wonder to the piece. Crowned with candle or glass holders, the sculpture invites both literal and metaphorical illumination. As the second in the Climbers series, The Crux captures a pivotal moment—when the next move is unclear, and commitment is everything.
