Hunter, the 9th Liberty Collection Sculpture, entered the world in mid-July 2025 and immediately took his place among the ranks of Beasts, alongside such iconic Collection Series carvings as Troy, Birth of a Guin, Guin and Son, and the formidable Terrible Lizard. Like his kin, Hunter proved to be a challenge to carve. Unlike the smooth, predictable journey of other works, this piece was shaped by the lively resistance of the marble — “Mabel,” the Spirit of the Stone — who seemed intent on mischief. After days of strenuous labor, the result was a form both menacing and agile, predatory in stare yet distinct from his fellow Beasts.

The Collection Series as a whole is defined by its unique approach to portability and immersion. Each carving, whether bowl, Beast, or Standing Stone, is conceived to move easily through the world — sculptures that can be lifted, displayed, and repositioned without the industrial machinery traditional marble demands. Even the Beasts, while generally heavier than other Series works, are still designed to wander, to surprise, and to engage from unexpected vantage points.

Hunter continues this tradition. Indoors or outdoors, his robust form is impervious to the elements, protected by an invisible Italian sealant against sun, rain, snow, and more. Durable and without weak points, he requires little care beyond an occasional wash. But he is not a sculpture to be left idle. Born to roam, Hunter thrives when repositioned, when discovered anew by unsuspecting friends, family, or guests. Restless and bold, he is a Beast meant for missions.
