Description
Colorado Yule Marble – The Liberty Collection
Dimensions: 16 x 9 x 4 “
Weight: 11.4 lbs
Moonfish is the lightest sculpture in Martin Cooney’s Liberty Collection — and the equaling the Pearl as the lightest sculptures in his entire 91-piece Collection Series, tipping the scales at just 11.4 lbs. Light enough to pick up and carry with ease, she brings the full beauty of hand-carved Colorado Yule Marble to virtually any setting: windowsills, dining tables, studies, patios, bedrooms, and beyond.
A classic, deep, and contained bowl form, Moonfish is as functional as she is striking. She’s equally at home holding fruit, nuts, seashells, and small treasures — or, true to her aquatic inspiration, a bed of ice with fresh oysters or shrimp. In strong direct light, her abstract, curvilinear silhouette becomes a sculpture in its own right, shifting in character throughout the day.
The design takes its name and shape from the moonfish, or opah, a warm-blooded, moon-shaped ocean dweller found in the deep tropical and temperate waters of the world. Her distinctly pointy, spiky tail fins set her apart from other bowls in the Collection Series, giving her an unmistakably aquatic personality.
