‘Sheer Folly’ is the 14th carving in The Liberty Collection and the twin to ‘Sheer Strength’, both split from the same block of Colorado Yule Marble. The marks from the plug-and-feather separation were intentionally preserved and now form the bold vertical columns that define one whole side of the piece.
Unlike his sister’s soft curves and subtle presence, Folly leans into angles, posture, and personality. His eccentric charm is reflected here: a three-sided “bowl” that isn’t meant to function, an angular rebel within a collection known for Curvilinear form.
As with all Collection Series twins, these two pieces were carved in succession and belong together. Naming them both with “Sheer” ensures they remain side by side within the Collection’s story.
