Carved from a brilliant corner of a three-ton Colorado Yule Marble slab, this elegant, curvilinear bowl emerged just as Martin’s newly opened Council Grove studio was taking shape. Modest in scale but rich in symbolism, The Liberty Bowl embodies a creative revival, a new chapter written in stone.
Light dances along its smooth, flowing edges and glows softly through its translucent white surface, especially when placed in natural light or under a spotlight. Though delicately beautiful, the bowl is fully functional, coated with an invisible Italian sealant for use as a dramatic centerpiece. Like all of Cooney’s Collection Series works, it bears his signature mark and serial number on the underside. Whether displayed as a sculptural object or put to celebratory use, The Liberty Bowl stands as a powerful symbol of persistence, place, and artistic freedom.
