Description
Framed in a recessed square panel, this limestone carving presents the Dharmachakra — the Wheel of Dharma — a sacred symbol in Buddhism that represents the Buddha’s teachings and the path to enlightenment.
The wheel features eight spokes, each signifying a step of the Noble Eightfold Path:
- Right View
- Right Intention
- Right Speech
- Right Action
- Right Livelihood
- Right Effort
- Right Mindfulness
- Right Concentration
Each spoke is carefully spaced and subtly tapered, suggesting both balance and forward motion. At the center lies a coiled spiral — a nod to the seed of awareness from which the path unfolds. The clean circular lines contrast with the textured backdrop, evoking the tension between stillness and progress, the known and the unknown.
Sculpted in warm Kansas Crème limestone, the piece honors both spiritual discipline and craftsmanship, merging ancient symbolism with modern form. It works equally well as a contemplative focal point in a meditation space or a statement piece in a contemporary collection.
