Part of Martin Cooney’s Wave Power pair, Thing Two, “Starboard” is one half of a dynamic sculptural duo carved from the same section of The Maiden Collection’s marble slab. Alongside its companion piece, Thing One, “Port”, this sculpture explores themes of balance, flow, and mirrored movement.
Carved from Colorado Yule Marble, Starboard showcases Cooney’s curvilinear style in full motion—its contours and posture inviting placement in a variety of settings, both indoor and outdoor. The sculpture’s fluid energy and abstract form evoke the rhythm of water and the motion of sea vessels, all while remaining grounded in stone.
