A bold and charismatic figure in the 1314 Winter Collection, Wolf Man Jack—affectionately nicknamed “Wolfy”—marked a major evolution in Martin Cooney’s approach to Curvilinear Sculpture. Departing from the thin-walled but visually solid forms of his earlier work, this piece introduces a breakthrough: a sharply defined diamond-shaped cut that pierces straight through the marble, ushering in a more open, light-responsive style.
Originally titled Labyrinth, the sculpture’s maze-like carvings allow light to pass through and dance across razor-thin planes—especially when illuminated by the low winter sun. Of all the “Standing Stones,” Wolfy glows most brilliantly during the solstice, when his angular face catches and refracts the seasonal light.
His name reflects both form and attitude: “Wolf Man” for the fierce, triangular features; “Jack” for the undeniable swagger. Mounted on a half-inch rod, Wolf Man Jack rotates with ease, creating a dynamic interaction with light, shadow, and space.
A turning point in the collection and a preview of what’s to come, Wolf Man Jack is sculpture in motion—confident, luminous, and unapologetically original.
